Heads Up Snake Drafts: The Logical Approach

While sitting in on daily fantasy sports chat, I often times proposition the room for a head to head snake draft only to hear comments such as "I don't do head to head snakes, I suck at them" or "I don't do 2 man snake leagues because it's a crap shoot!"
I then ask how many times they've done a 2 man snake draft and the answer is often once. People, just because you lose one heads up league doesn't mean that you suck. One game isn't a big enough sampling of results to determine whether you suck at them or not.
Conversely, I would be accepting of an answer such as "I don't think on my feet well" or "They bore me." THAT I would understand and respect. My point here is that of the title of this article, "The Logical Approach." Truth be told, you aren't going to win every game. Don't let a small sampling of negative results get you down. Daily fantasy head to head snake leagues should be approached similar to sports betting; you want to shoot for winning 57-60% of your games and you'll turn a tidy profit long term. Like betting on sports, daily fantasy is a grind. You're going to have good days and bad days. If you do your homework and are an informed daily fantasy player, you WILL prevail in the long run. If you get nothing else out of this article, or the whole site for that matter, we urge you to remember this tidbit of info.
Now let's address the second comment above about head to head snakes being a crap shoot. This couldn't be further from the truth. I am not embarrassed to admit that I'm consistently dominated by certain players at Draftstreet. Conversely, there are players that I dominate on a regular basis.
LIVE head to head snake drafts undoubtedly offer an advantage to those who have done their homework, know the sport, and think well on their feet.
This comment is a bit off topic, but since we're talking about head to head snakes, I also advise daily fantasy players to take the 5 minutes that a fantasy site gives you to put your players in queue and do exactly just that. It never ceases to amaze me how many guys take every second of the clock and then rush to make a last second pick. This is a serious disadvantage to you. Just like everything else in life, you'll be rewarded for preparing properly.
